Doc Thompson and the Foundation

The George H. and Elta Spencer Thompson Foundation was founded in 1995 by it’s namesake, Dr. George H. Thompson, DDS, and his wife Elta, along with Lowry W. Lindell, Thomas L. Kokjer, and Steven M. Smith. It was officially established on August 23, 1995 as a 501(c) 3 Nonprofit Organization in the state of Nebraska.

Doc Thompson, as he was affectionately known, was born in Phillips, NE but his family soon moved to Lincoln.  He graduated from Creighton Dental College, and then spent the majority of his adult life as a dentist in Sidney, Nebraska.  After living to 102 years of age, he left behind a legacy of good will and love for his community. His desire to help children with dental problems, support the area non-profit organizations, and provide scholarships to Cheyenne County students has made a huge impact on the local citizens.

The Thompson Foundation is a non-profit corporation that supports Cheyenne County Nebraska educational, religious, scientific, and charitable organizations. The Thompson Foundation’s main function is to provide funding to promote the activities, services, and facilities of non-profit organizations located in or benefiting the citizens of Cheyenne County Nebraska.

Orthodontia Program

This was Doc Thompson’s passion, to help children and families with overwhelming dental bills. Doc loved kids and wanted to bring a smile to the faces of those in need.

The Thompson Foundation grants the orthodontia program an annual amount to provide funding for families that apply for assistance due to devastating circumstances.
